2016 has been a blessed year for us at Christian Legal Aid of DC. We added a legal director, Rob Rose; started a new pro bono clinic; received our first three grants; became a registered Legal Aid Provider recognized by the D.C. courts; and met with over 270 clients!
Even better, in 2016 we provided extended legal representation to 64
clients—representing them before administrative agencies, D.C. Superior Court, U.S. District Courts, and even the D.C. Court of Appeals—and we have resolved over 39
of those cases to date with our clients obtaining favorable results in 35
of them! Through fighting for clients, CLADC has improved conditions in low-income housing, secured custody rights for parents and grand-parents, returned homeless clients to employment, cleaned up onerous criminal records and much more.
2016 has been a year of growth and blessing for CLADC and we could not have done it without your support. Growth requires funding! And, praise God our funding has largely kept up this year. We do have, however, a small budget deficit of $7,000
that we would like to close by the end of the year.
As we Christians reflect on God's gift of Christ and consider our end of year donations, I hope we will all be cheerful, generous givers. I pray we will meditate on Christ's words in Luke 12:48: "From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked."
Seventy percent of our funding comes from individuals and churches, and this support is a huge testimony to secular D.C. that Christians do care about the poor. As you consider the many deserving ministries to which you could donate, I hope you will consider CLADC. You can donate on our website here
or mail a check to the address below.
I pray everyone will have a blessed Christmas, seeing more of what it means to have God with us. Merry Christmas!
