Stewart's Stewings
I saw that phrase on a church signboard once. I guess it was a sermon title. I shook my head at first cause it sounds so cheesy. And then I remember something happening that day when I had an opportunity to be grumpy or grateful. We do have a choice, you know? Gratitude is the Best Attitude.

We can reflect on our lives and especially the challenges of these very days and find ourselves going down a grumpy road. Or, we can choose to always live on the bright side of life. Go ahead. Sing along with me:

Some things in life are bad They can really make you mad Other things just make you swear and curse When you're chewing on life's gristle Don't grumble, give a whistle And this'll help things turn out for the best And
Always look on the bright side of life Always look on the light side of life

Well perhaps I should refer to the Book of Common Prayer on Thanksgiving Eve instead of Monty Python. If you have been joining me on Tuesdays for Morning Prayer you know my favorite prayer is The General Thanksgiving on page 837. (Someone leaves MP every weekday at 9am Facebook Live.) This my favorite phrase from that prayer.

We thank you for setting us at tasks which demand our best efforts,
and for leading us to accomplishments which satisfy and delight us.

We thank you also for those disappointments and failures
that lead us to acknowledge our dependence on you alone.

Dear ones, we get to choose. In the next few days as you are stuck in traffic on the way to see family, or burning your pecan pie as I did last night, or talking too much politics with relatives, or missing loved ones, or feeling alone or in pain, make a choice to practice gratitude. God loves you so much that he sent his only Son to come among us and dwell with us in our accomplishments, our disappointments and failures. We are not alone, and that's the best news we could possibly receive.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Please email the session you would like to attend.
Thursday, December 8, 10:00 AM-12:00 PM, or Wednesday, December 14, 4:00-6:00 PM in the Parish Hall.

*no purchase necessary, but the first 3 people to sign up for each of the retreat options, will receive a free book, compliments of your author-leader! Or purchase it online here.

Stewardship Update

We are so thankful for the pledges and donations that we have recently received. You have generously pledged over $1,606,700 to pay off our capital debt.

The interest rate on the loan has increased to 5.88% from 2.35% in April, so principal payments make a big difference. As for our 2023 operating budget, we have over $1,030,000!

Please consider pledging if you have not pledged as we plan for the 2023 budget. Any amount you can give over the next three years will help us to be Set Free to Serve! If you have pledged already, thank you for your support! Make a pledge here. If you have questions please contact Caroline Fleming.
