A Note on the Annual Meeting...
     On Sunday we will celebrate the Feast of the Holy Innocents. The day set aside for this moment in the church calendar is December 28. If we chose to celebrate that three days after Christmas, we would easily have one of the smallest services of the year.  Instead, we chose to move our day to celebrate when we can all be together. And that is the goal. We want everyone to worship together. We want everyone to come and be part of the Annual Meeting. We want everyone to be together as we celebrate being the beloved people of God. 

      We have so very much to celebrate. We just celebrated our sesquicentennial. We welcomed home preachers from our past and present. We had one amazing concert after another on campus and at Carnegie Hall and Spelman College. We raised over $1.87 million to retire the mortgage on our property. We have had a successful pledge campaign. We are finishing up a half dozen projects that have been lingering for decades. Even more, we will celebrate folks who have been helping and volunteering to make this place run for years. Come and join us as we celebrate our church, as we grow in community, and as we thrive as the people of God!

The Episcopal Church has entered into “Full Communion” with six denominations and is talking with several more. The idea is that clergy, bishops, and people can move interchangeably between these denominations. As the Rev. Stewart Lucas discovered in Baltimore, Lutherans and Episcopalians have much more in common than you might think.

Join Dr. Sally Parsonson, a long-time English professor at Millsaps College and member of Holy Innocents, as she leads a vibrant discussion on American Short Stories and their relationship to faith and life. The roundtable discussion is open to all. The short stories are shared each week.

Shared Narratives: Wisdom Literature
Rabbi Ron Segal & the Rev. Bill Murray | Wednesdays, March 1-22, 7:00-8:15 PM
Bill and Ron will continue their shared teaching between the communities of Temple Sinai and Holy Innocents’ during Lent. Each week will focus on a different book of Wisdom Literature: Psalms, Proverbs, Song of Solomon, and Ecclesiastes. Join us as we share our narrative and seek understanding between our communities. Annual Meeting | January 29
Please join your church family at 9:00 AM in Inglett Hall as we review the finances of our ministry, look back at 2022 and forward to our next adventure together. The candidates for election to the vestry are John Cummings, Hayley Kelly, John Rash and Karla Smith. Marcena Kinney, Piano | March 12
Marcena Kinney serves as one of the accompanists for the acclaimed Spivey Hall Children's Choir. She is currently in the highly competitive and demanding Artist Diploma program at GSU. She has already tried out our renovated Steinway and is eager to present an amazing program.

Seder | March 29 
Mark your calendars! Holy Innocents’ will once again have a Seder Meal. We are delighted to share that Rabbi Samantha “Sam” Trief and Cantor Beth Schafer will lead our celebration. Join us for great food, fellowship, and learning much more about Passover. 

Stewardship Update

So far you have generously pledged over $1,872,820 to pay off our capital debt. The interest rate on the loan for building renovations has increased greatly, so principal payments make a big difference. As for our 2023 operating budget, we have over $1,325,190 in pledges! Thank you!
