We first built the kennel at Quinebaug Kennels back in 2004. Jason and I had designed a lovely building with stone, fiber cement siding, the best kennels by Mason Company (handwoven chain link), epoxy flooring, radiant heat and air conditioning, as well as built ins and gorgeous decorations and artwork. I was on my way to making my dream come true…my own commercial kennel operation for my dog training business. As a sole business owner, I applied for an SBA Business Loan, and Jason (we were dating at the time) built for me the most beautiful commercial ‘dog house’ that you could imagine!  He even wove a black lab outline into the green roof shingles. What a LOVE story!

Now it is 2017.  The new Lodge has been built and while we still have more finishing work to do, the time has arrived to gut and restore the Training building.  After nearly 13 years, the dogs have abused the once glorious building to its limits.  They have ripped off our built in automatic Nelson waterers, they have torn stone off the foundation, they have chewed cement siding, scratched walls and done more damage than we had though possible!  We maintained it very well all of these years; however it has gotten tired and needs a facelift.  Since “Downtime” or “Bored” is not in mine or Jason’s language…we jumped into it full force.  (Well, I really planned, demanded,  stomped my feet and begged, Jason got to business and made it happen) :)

Demolition began on April 7th, 2017.

Can you believe the destruction these dogs can cause!? Imagine what they could have done without our rigorous training and exercise!? My goodness!

So, the masons have been called, the flooring company working on quotes, our HVAC genius Mr. Todd Hewitt of All Season’s Mechanical will be re-engineering a brand new efficient system with better heating and cooling capabilities as well as much improved air exchange systems and we are off and running!

Our proposed remodel is about 3 months. While we really need the building now, we want to make sure that we are always up to date with our facility so that we can provide safe, secure and healthy housing for your little chewing beasts….oops, I mean beloved ‘perfect’ canine companions!

We will keep you posted on the progress…..
