E-NEWS FOR THE WEEK OF August 25th, 2019

Back to School Thank You

As the self-proclaimed forgotten school, Ms. Berry, the principal of Minnie Hughes Elementary School could not help but to think I was joking when I told her that the CSP family would like to shower them with love. She was in complete shock when Andrew, Tim, and I walked through the doors days before school started with backpacks filled, boxes of paper, and more boxes of supplies. As we were in the office unloading our armfuls, parents were calling in need of backpacks for their children and teachers were scrounging around for supplies for their classroom. It was so exciting to see our donations filling needs immediately. Ms. Berry pulled me to the side to let me know how completely touched, blessed, and overwhelmed she was.
During my chat with Ms. Berry, she shared with me the vision for this year’s 4th and 5th grade field trip. Once again, they plan to partner with an out of state school, last year it was one in Washington D.C., for the 4th and 5th graders to be pen pals with. In the spring, the 4th and 5th graders will travel on an overnight field trip to meet their pen pals in person! This year, they are planning to partner with a school in Boston. With the outpouring of generous donations from the CSP family, we plan on using a large portion of the donations to help to fund this trip.
As a former CSP Back to School supply drive recipient, I cannot explain what a blessing the supplies are and especially the CSP love is to a teacher and their students. Time and time again, I am amazed by the love and generosity of the CSP family. Thank you all for loving all of the teachers and students in our community so well!
Special Time in the Word

Remembering Our Call
to the Great Commission
Fr. Craige and the Vestry will be back this week for a special Time in the Word to continue conversations as we forward as a parish family and Diocese in the Anglican Church of North America.

One of the more exciting things was the official release of the 2019 ACNA Book of Common Prayer at the ACNA Assembly that Fr. Craige attended. Copies will be available for review.

Kick off to the Fall Programs and Series
After services, Rally Day Fun continues at Camp St. Christopher. CSP has reserved the Picnic Pavilion for lunch and access to the beach! Come by car or by boat and celebrate the last rays of summer together as a parish family.

The Picnic Pavilion has tables, benches, bathrooms and an outdoor shower. We hope to see everyone there so pack your lunch cooler and sand toys and head on down to the beach.

While at the beach, we will reaffirm our Baptism Vows. If anyone is interested in an Ocean Baptism, please let the church office know.
Soul Keeping
by John Ortberg

Women's 8 week Bible Study
 Monday nights at CSP 6:30-8:00pm
Beginning on Monday, September 16th

The soul is the coolest, eeriest, most mysterious, sacred, eternal, life-directing, fragile, indestructible, controversial dimension of your existence. Jesus said it’s worth more than the world.

Shouldn’t you get pretty clear on exactly what it is? Shouldn’t you know what it runs on? Wouldn’t it be worth knowing how to care for it?

Ladies, sign up in the Narthex this Sunday if you plan on attending and would like the church to purchase the book and study guide for you. The cost is $22.00 for the set, both are necessary to get the most out of this study.
