Covid Update: Rubies Dance Centre
It has been almost two months since our last official Covid update. In light of the government's most recent announcements on how and when the lockdown will gradually be lifted, we wanted to get back in touch with you all to keep you updated on what this means for us at Rubies Dance Centre.
When will we be back to normal?
According to the government's roadmap, the earliest that we could possibly re-open our studio doors would be from 4th July. However, this will be conditional on the UK continuing to control the 'R' (rate of infection). For us at Rubies, any opening date will also be dependent upon when the venues we hire re-open to the public. We will be starting that conversation with all our venues now.
What will it look like when we go back?
When we first entered lockdown, we promised all of you a two-week 'bonanza' in which the price of personal lessons would be significantly reduced to help you catch-up and refresh your memory before classes re-start! We haven't forgotten our promise so when we re-open, there will be two weeks of lessons before classes begin.
We don't yet know the extent to which social distancing will still be in place by the time we open. However, it will be safest to assume that dance classes will feel a little different for a while. We are not in a position to confirm anything yet but measures could include: reducing class sizes, only allowing 'partnering' between those in the same household, and enforcing 2 meter spacing in all classes. However, the most important thing is that we are confident your dancing will still progress. We are staying up to date with developments across all dance associations and research is already taking place in to how examinations could be held without partners or even virtually.
What about now?
Over the past few weeks, we have spent time developing a 'remote' timetable which, we believe, gives you the best of Rubies Dance Centre during this time. We know nothing will replace learning together in the same space but we remain committed to your dancing. Whether you danced with us before the lockdown or have been meaning to give us a try, there is something for you. Don't forget that Rubies Dance Centre has also had an annual video membership service for a number of years, through which you can access a library of tutorial videos. In these key weeks, we have been experimenting with the best remote tech and have invested to make sure the content we produce is of the highest quality.
Finally, we want to say thank you to each and every one of you for your support during this time. We do not take any of it for granted.
