Good Afternoon,

SATS are writing to you today to provide you with an update on the ever-changing and evolving circumstances surrounding COVID-19 and how this may impact any outstanding works while the current NSW Health orders are in effect.

Having consulted with NSW Health concerning the current STAY AT HOME orders in effect for Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour, we understand that smoke alarm servicing falls under emergency works and may continue where safety is a concern or a property will not satisfy legislative requirements.

Based on the Information received from NSW Health, SATS will continue our service as follows -
  • Any property located in the area that is governed by the STAY AT HOME orders, that has an outstanding job, that falls into the category below, we will contact the tenant and permitting they allow our attendance, we will service the smoke alarm/s at the property.
  • If we have been requested by you to attend due to a faulty/missing alarm, we will service the smoke alarm/s at the property.
  • In alignment with State Legislative requirements, if the property is nearing 365 days without a service or has exceeded 365 days without service, we will service the smoke alarm/s at the property. Please note, this includes a change of tenancy service where it cannot be determined if the property has been serviced within 12 months or SATS has not previously attended to the property.
  • Change of tenancy services where the property has been attended within the last 365 days will be paused as there is no urgent or legislative requirement to attend and as such cannot be attended under the current NSW Health orders.
As per governing advisory, all other outstanding works will be paused until the STAY AT HOME restrictions are revised.

Smoke Alarm Testing Services have implemented these strategies and measures to help do our part and limit any further spread of the virus. We have asked our technicians to remain vigilant during this time, have implemented strict hygiene protocols and have asked that they keep a distance of 1.5 meters between one another at all times.

We will request that, if a tenant is unwell, has been deemed a close contact or travelled overseas in the last 14 days, to let us know so that we can place a hold on this property to isolate it from booking for the recommended 14-day period. After this period, the property will be made available for reschedule.    

The health, well-being, and safety of the tenants and our technicians are paramount to us, and we thank you for your understanding.
