PeaceCorps Donates 600 Mosquito Nets for Youth Ambassadors to Distribute

News of our Public Health Youth Ambassadors’ activities are already impressing others. The US Peace Corps reached out recently to Children’s Chance International to offer 600 mosquito nets for our Youth Ambassadors to distribute to households in their communities to prevent malaria. Distribution will begin in the next couple of weeks and culminate on World Malaria Day, April 25.

First Youth Ambassador Training a Success!

On March 5-7, RUFC and CCI hosted the first training workshop for 30 newly recruited Youth Public Health Ambassadors. The youth were recruited from 3 sub-counties in the Lira District based on their intelligence, leadership, and desire to contribute to their community. The three day workshop covered sanitation, nutrition, reproductive health, risky behaviors, and mental health. The students also learned practical skills to take back to their community, such as how to construct tippy-tap hand washing stations, how to make reusable menstrual pads, and how to carry out basic first aid. A special shout out to our remarkable team who bring expertise, enthusiasm and joy to all our programming. Check out the impressive public health workbook constructed by our young volunteers in the US and Uganda and translated into Longo, the local tribal language!

US Youth ZOOM Into Lira

A group of 9 young people based throughout the US are currently volunteering with RUFC and actively participating in our community-based activities in Northern Uganda via Zoom. For example, the youth facilitated three workshops during the first Youth Ambassador training focused on cancer, first aid, and disease transmission. Want to get involved? Contact us today!
