April Stories from Social Media

Follow us to get daily stories & updates M-F!
April has been a busy month for Family Friendships! Over the past month, we started Family Friendships with 8 new families. These supportive relationships are strengthening families involving 18 children. Sometimes, we match more than one Family Friend volunteer with each parent, so there are 12 Family Friend volunteers involved with these 8 new families. Plus, each friendship involves a Family Coach for additional support.

Why do parents reach out to Safe Families for a Family Friendships? Well, the parents from this month were dealing with such things as: mental health concerns, childcare availability issues, job instability, falling behind on bills, parenting burnout, and other things. Any parent who is going through a crisis alone can reach out to us for Family Friendship support. Join with the many other parents who are gaining friendships, parenting support, community, and relief through Safe Families Family Friendships.
Today we warmly welcome the "C" family to Safe Families! We approved them this week, and then they immediately accepted a respite day-hosting (of 2 kids) for another volunteer family on their church team! It was awesome to see them be so open with their home and to support another family on their team. We love our @ridgecc volunteers!

Their motivation to join Safe Families was: "Safe Families is a good opportunity to help families who are in a tight spot. We have a safe and loving home, and we feel God calls us to use what we have to help others."
We are so proud of one Safe Families mama who moved into her new apartment on Sunday! It's been a loooooooooooooong journey for her to get to a safe place for her and her two little ones, and we are so impressed with her persistence, hard work, and grit. She's an inspiration, and we are glad to know her. Special thanks to the volunteer family from @eastbrookchurch who have befriended this family for many months now. Thank you for widening your family to include a mom and her two precious kids. Strangers becoming family...that's the Safe Families life!
For #TestimonyTuesday this week, we wanted to share a message we received from a Host Family volunteer who just returned a precious 1 year old boy to his mom after a two week hosting.
We are honored to support parents as they work on their goals and blessed to get to know them and their kids. Shout out to the volunteer family from Imago Dei church that stepped up to care for the little guy on extreme short notice!
We are so grateful for all of the churches & volunteers who participated in Safe Families Sunday yesterday! It was a really special day for us. The best part was that 2 SF partner moms attended church with their SF Family Friends for the first time! Please pray for those relationships and for these parents to connect with the Lord.

Churches that highlighted Safe Families during services included: Stillwaters Church, Crossway Church, RiverGlen Christian Church, Brookfield Christian Reformed Church, Brookfield Lutheran Church, and Imago Dei Church. Redemption Church & Bend City Church will have their own Safe Families Sunday in coming weeks.
"Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established." Proverbs 16:3 ESV
Safe Families video of the month: "Happy Mother's Day" Testimony from SFFC MKE volunteer, Jessie Johnsen & Partner Mom, Shabreka. This was recorded for The Ridge Community Church's Mother's Day service this past weekend.
