BComm Reunions Classes of 2004, 2009, 2014 & 2018 - Saturday June 8th
This year, UCD Business Alumni will host a joint event to celebrate the 1, 5, 10 & 15-year reunions for the BComm classes of '04, '09, '14 & '18. It will be held on Saturday, 8th June in the new UCD University Members' Club, Belfield. The theme of the event is 'The Revival of the Irish Whiskey and Gin Industries', with speakers from both emerging and long-established distilleries. Have you got the Biz Factor?
As part of the UCD festival on June 8th, six groups of children from local primary schools will present their business ideas to a panel of experts chaired by Gavin Duffy. Join us at 1:45pm in O'Reilly Hall 2, Belfield, to discover Ireland's next generation of entrepreneurs! Read more.

New York Benefit Dinner
Save the date for the 17th annual New York Benefit Dinner which will take place on Wednesday, 16th October 2019. All profits from this event will fund scholarships for North American students, attracting the next generation of business leaders to study at UCD. Read more.

BComm Class of 1969 Reunion & Ulysses Medal Award Ceremony
On Wednesday May 29th, UCD Business Alumni hosted a BComm 50-year Reunion for the Class of 1969 which was held in the new UCD University Club, Belfield. On this very special occasion the Ulysses Medal, the University's highest honour, was also awarded to Dr. Michael Somers, former NTMA CEO. Smurfit Kappa's Ken Bowles Takes CFO Prize At 'Irish Times' Business Awards
Ken Bowles, UCD MBA '05 alumnus was recently named CFO of the year at the Irish Times Business Awards in Dublin. Mr Bowles, who joined the paper and packaging giant back in 1994, has helped steer the company through what has been a difficult period of late. The group produced a record set of results in February with earnings surging 25% to €1.545 billion. Read more.

Butternut Box, a London based fresh dog food business co-founded by UCD BBL '12 alumnus Kevin Glynn, has raised £15 million (€17.4 million) in investment as it looks to expand into other markets including the Republic. Read more.

UK Imports To Overtake Irish New Car Sales For First Time
At its peak in 2007, the new car market topped 180,000, with three times as many new cars sold - in the same year, imported second-hand sales were at just 59,255. Since 2016, new-car sales have followed a steady decline from 142,688 that year to just 127,045 in 2018, with sales down a further 12.9% in Q1 2019 to 50,861.

UCD Smurfit Executive Development has been ranked 24th in Europe and 43rd in the world for its Open Enrolment programmes according to the prestigious 2019 Financial Times Executive Education Rankings.
