2018 House League – Register Now!

Deadline: MAY 1st
Once again, our House League will take place on Monday evenings, starting with pre-season tune-up drills led by our tennis professional team, on Monday, May 21st and Monday, May 28th. The League will run from Monday, June 4th through Monday, August 27th (excluding the August Civic Holiday). Games will take place every Monday night, with teams starting at 7pm, 8pm or 9pm.

It is one of our most popular activities in which games are played and arranged according to your level: Line 1(highest), Line 2, Line 3.  When players register (which is required - see the button below) for House League, they will be asked to indicate their level of play (Line 1, Line 2, Line 3), and will be divided into teams which will contain members at all these levels. Our professional team will assist in evaluating each player’s level during the two weeks of pre-season tune-up drills.

Every year we have 6 teams (12 members each team) and the format is as follows: two teams will play three matches against each other at 7pm, two other teams at 8pm, and the remaining teams at 9pm. The emphasis is on fun and getting to play with lots of members. Please note that due to the high number of participants, play is not guaranteed for everyone every week.

As House League is very popular, and we can only accommodate a maximum number of 72 participants,  therefore registration is required. In order to try to give a greater number of members a chance to enjoy Club programming, members who play on our inter-club leagues may not participate in House League. Again this year we will have a House League social event with a nominal charge. This season, the House League Captains and participants should determine when it is best held and with a contribution from those who participate.

Please note, even if you indicated an interest in House League on your membership application, that did not constitute registration; you must still CLICK to complete the sign-up form. The deadline to register is May 1st.

Even if we reach our capacity level, we often need spares, so if you are interested in subbing from time to time, please let us know on the sign-up form and we will put you on our spares list.

For the House League to run, volunteers are needed to lead and co-ordinate the program. Our Games Director is looking for people who are willing to be Captains/Co-captains–so any members willing to help out, please contact This is one of our most popular events and cannot run itself so please consider volunteering to lead a team.

2018 Adult Competitive Team Try-Outs
Dates Are Approaching!
These are the changes this year documented in the March 22nd Between The Lines newsletter:
  • Our team offerings could change this year depending on turn-out at try-outs – our goal is to match team offerings to member team interests
  • Try-outs are at The Supreme Courts, 2235 Sheppard Avenue East, North York
  • New Mixed 55+ team(s) being added (dependent on interest)
  • New practice day for Ladies' teams (now Tuesday) and new practice time for Inter-County A & C teams (now Sunday 10:00 – 1:00 pm).
MANDATORY Team Try-out Player Information Form:
If you haven’t already, please take a moment to fill out the form. This information will be given to the Pro at the try-out to ensure that your team preferences are identified and we know who is coming to each team's try-out.

Please refer to the Between the Lines (BTL) Newsletter dated March 22 for Adult competitive team try-out details.
Adult Team Captain/Co-Captains
Adult Team Captain/Co-Captains
Once the teams have been selected, the first order of business will be selecting Team Captains.  Team Captain/Co-Captains are responsible for the following:
  • Organizing the weekly line-up
  • Liaising with opposing team captains
  • Reporting the match scores to the league director
  • Organizing team members in providing refreshments for Home matches, and
  • Bringing club provided tennis balls to Home matches (balls to be supplied by club for season).
If two team members have volunteered as Captains, they will be acclaimed as Co-captains.  If more than two have volunteered, team members will be asked to vote for Captains by email ballot.  Please be sure that you have indicated on the Mandatory Try-Out Form whether you are willing to volunteer so that you can be acclaimed or your name included on the ballot.  Feel free to email the Games Director if you would like to volunteer and did not include on the Mandatory Try-Out Form, or if you would like additional information.  The teams need volunteer Captains so please consider taking on this role!
Team Size:
To ensure the strongest team is put forward, we are looking to select a minimum of 10 players for each of the ladies’ teams; 12 men / 8 women for each of the Inter-County teams and 6 men / 6 women for the new 55+ team(s).  Players who are not selected for the team roster will have the option of being placed on the “sub” list.
