A Note From Principal Best
The number one question I get asked at this point in our distance learning is how school will look in the fall. The shortest answer is that we really don’t know. The longer, more complicated, and more representative answer of how I currently spend my time, is that we are planning for all possibilities. With social distancing requirements I do not see school looking like it traditionally has for a while yet. This might mean that we continue some form of distance learning, that we move toward a hybrid model of small group work on campus and whole class learning online, or it might mean that different students have different models of instruction. Really, all possibilities are on the table right now.
I tell you this not to increase any anxiety about the unknown, but to be real with you about the kind of discussion and planning that is happening behind the scenes. As the state and county clarify the health and education requirements moving forward, our district will formulate their plan for all of our students and staff. We, as a Fairmont site, will then move forward with what we need to do, specific to our children and our community.
Thank you for remaining patient through this process. As you can imagine, nothing is very clear or easy right now. I will continue to update you as we learn more.
