How many times have you had to wear a gas mask in your home over the past few years? Or save water in your reserve tank? Have you had to flee your house at the call of sirens or sit attached to your phone to hear from family members caught in a wildfire or flood zones?
Far too many of us now contend with the painful implications of the climate crisis on our lives. The same challenges that some of us may have once naively thought happened to people in faraway places are here at our doorsteps. Be it floods in Mozambique or the Gulf, fires in the Amazon or Yosemite, or water shortage in Rajasthan or California, we are collectively facing the consequences of this existential threat.
At Thousand Currents, we are clear that this is a moment for #ClimateRealTalk. Science tells us that we have but a few years to make significant changes or face catastrophic impacts on our lives, livelihoods, and futures. We also know that the political, economic, and social changes that we need to make cannot be achieved without popular, grassroots organizing. Supporting grassroots solutions is climate action.
