Caitlin Canty October Letter - Watkins Family Hour, 17 States, New Video

I'm writing you from a desk covered in a messy pile of papers and notebooks. The weather thankfully turned toward fall here in TN. It cooled off the day we hung a porch swing in fact. There's a fresh page impulse that blows in with fall air, it has me chasing new melodies on an old guitar and filling up pages with black ink. I'd love to sit on my porch swing and catch some more songs. But as usual, I can't sit still for long.

TOUR FORECAST

The next few months have me zigzagging across the country, playing in at least 17 states, some more than once. Many shows are yet to be announced, but if you live in MA, OH, VT, NH, LA, CA, RI, CO, OR, WA, NY, PA, DC, VA, NC, GA, TN or Denmark, I'll be coming through soon enough. Here's what's around the corner:

I'm playing for the first time in Lowell, MA this Friday at an art gallery, and Saturday I'll zip to New Orleans to play a free show at an urban farm.

I'll join Sean and Sara as one of many special guests at Watkins Family Hour in Los Angeles Oct 25.

I'll meet up with Maya De Vitry, Peter Mulvey and Mark Erelli in Newport, RI for back to back sets with my pals.

John Statz has amiably agreed to open my Denver show Nov 15th. It'll be my first time headlining in Denver, and it's quite a large room. If you have friends there, send em out, I beg of you.

Along with my partner in Down Like Silver, Peter Bradley Adams, I'll play some great rooms in Seattle, Portland and Berkeley. We'll play DLS songs in our solo sets, best of both worlds.

And next year, I'm going to tour in a goddamn straight line. TOUR

VIDEO - TIME ROLLS BY

This song is drenched in pedal steel on Motel Bouquet, and I love it. We tried a new approach here with fiddle and resonator guitar, and I love it.

The final installment from our session at Live from Layman, here's "Time Rolls By" with Noam Pikelny, Paul Kowert, and Stuart Duncan.

I'VE BEEN LISTENING TO

The Milk Carton Kids new record, All The Things That I Did And All The Things That I Didn't Do. The title track is a classic. The duo is currently on tour with a killer backing band.

The Stray Birds final record as a band, Let It Pass. I've known these three since we were all just starting out as baby-cheeked touring musicians. Listening to their new songs is bittersweet, but I can't wait to see what the future holds for their new solo projects. Listen to "Light as a Fire."

Mark Erelli's star-studded poignant protest song, "By Degrees." I wish the world didn't need this song.
