Don't forget that Thursday night, 4/21, the Town of Yates will be holding the public hearing on their revised wind law: Local Law to Amend the Wind Energy Facilities Law of 2008, revised April 13, 2016. This hearing will be held at the Lyndonville Central School's auditorium (77 Housel Ave.) at 7 p.m. There will also be a public hearing that night on the adoption of a local law known as the Town of Yates Moratorium on Wind Energy Facilities Law. Come prepared to sign up and make a comment on each law. You can find the text of both laws on the Town of Yates website under Legal Notices. There is also a link to the revised wind law on SOS's website.
We need you to show up and be counted by making a comment. It can be a simple statement that you support the moratorium and the proposed wind law or you can make detailed comments about specifics contained within the law. Look through the findings and/or the standards for wind energy conversion systems. The standards include details about setbacks, noise standards, economic and health impacts, impacts on wildlife, the real property value protection plan, etc. There are also sections on decommissioning, limitations on approvals, enforcement, etc.
Please attend Thursday night's hearings and make comments. Show that you support the Town of Yates Town Board and the good work they are doing to protect the health, safety and welfare of their constituents. The public, including both Yates and Somerset residents, will be allowed to make comments.
Hope to see you Thursday night!
SOS would like to thank all of our members who have donated money so that we can continue to fight the battle against Apex. It is greatly appreciated. Without people like you we could not go forward. THANK YOU AGAIN!
