What's reading? - A collection of articles for the holiday season

The benefits and challenges of using blockchain in IoT development

The huge benefit that the Internet of Things (IoT) brings to different industries and domains is driving its growth and adoption at an unrelenting pace. Soon billions of connected devices will be spread across smart homes and cities, harvesting data, sending it to huge repositories for analysis and processing, and carrying out commands sent from smart apps and machine-learning-based systems.

Report: "Low Power networks hold the key to IoT"

We’ve reached a key moment in the Internet of Things (IoT). Established communications protocols are being hurriedly adapted to meet the new requirements thrown up by IoT applications, and less-known protocols are on the verge of being swallowed by emerging giants.

Electronic Design: Understanding The Protocols Behind The Internet Of Things

The Internet revolutionized how people communicate and work together. It ushered in a new era of free information for everyone, transforming life in ways that were hard to imagine in its early stages. But the next wave of the Internet is not about people. It’s about intelligent, connected devices.

Book recommendation: The Circle by Dave Eggers

One of our members wrote in his blog: "Read “The Circle” and opt out!" - In his novel, Dave Eggers portraits a powerful internet company making money through advertising and the intelligent use of devices, mobiles, surveillance systems and data (links to Google or Facebook are purely accidental, of course). An exciting story into what is doable, what could become possible and what needs to be done about it. The book can be ordered in English or German on Amazon!

is wishing you a great holiday season - and remember: As always, we stay online during summer as well, hence we will be back with more news in July and August! Stay tuned ...

Yours sincerely,
IoT Austria
