Dear <<First Name>>,

We hope you've had a great summer. We have lots of news to share with you as we head into the fall. Our new project in Uganda is advancing. Thanks to our donors in Quebec City, our support for the education of young girls in Ivory Coast continues. The success of our project in the Democratic Republic of Congo will lead to further work in this part of Africa. Without your support, none of this could be accomplished. LINCCO members have recently visited DRC and Uganda. We'll share their insights, photos and videos with you soon. And we look forward to seeing you at our upcoming Annual Fundraiser at the Atwater Club in Montreal on November 5. More about that soon!  Please save the date!

Yours truly,

Silvia Ugolini,  President

Further Steps in Uganda

LINCCO is undertaking an exciting new initiative in Africa to bring medical aid to under-served areas in rural Uganda. The initiative is spear-headed by Dr. Ann Kalule Nanfuka, a Canadian doctor, who is setting up a medical mission to her native country of Uganda in partnership with LINCCO and a local organization, the KELIM Foundation.
The goal is to bring medical care to people in rural areas in Uganda where there are few doctors and limited medical supplies. The challenges are many, including extreme poverty, illiteracy, a lack of infrastructure and a high incidence of HIV/AIDS.
Dr. Nnfuka has made two working visits to Uganda during which she assessed what needs to be done to set up future medical missions.

Trimar Fundraiser Organizing Committee

TRIMAR Fundraiser for Ivory Coast Project a Huge Success!

A spring fundraiser organized in collaboration with students from the Ivory Coast at Laval University drew 100 people and raised $6,000 for the benefit of 25 students in Bingerville, near Abidjan, the capital city of Ivory Coast.
A silent auction and light African fare were followed by short presentations on the education program being funded and the political, social and cultural conditions there and across Africa.
The Quebec City group has raised $12,000 over two years for LINCCO’s education project in Ivory Coast and in addition has made over 250 people aware of  the pressing need for programs that will make a lasting difference in the lives of young women in that country.
There’s every indication a third fundraiser will be held next year!

LINCCO Builds International Partnerships

A delegation from the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo recently visited Sainte Justine Mother and Child Hospital Centre in Montreal. The delegation was in Canada in June to attend an international congress.
Marie Hatem, research professor with Sainte-Justine, who has played a key role in developing the Master’s Program in nursing at the Institute of Higher Education in Nursing Science (ISSI) at Monkole Hospital Centre in Kinshasa and Isabelle Krauss, Executive Director of LINCCO, invited the delegation to  Sainte-Justine to give them a better understanding of the level of expertise we can bring to  their country.
They toured the neonatal, obstetric and laboratory services accompanied by the respective chiefs of staff. Present in the delegation were two departmental directors of the DRC Ministry of Public Health as well as the Director General of the National Institute for Health Science Education Pilot Projects and the Director of the Project to support the Development of Health Care Human Resources from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency.

LINCCO is a registered charity that supports and promotes the teaching of valuable skills to people in developing countries by providing financial and professional aid to well-run local initiatives that promote the transfer of skills to individuals and to the community as a whole.
