Dear Nordic BTA Member,

It’s been a while since our latest Nordic newsletter. So, why don’t you grab a cup of coffee or tea, sit back and take a moment to learn what we have been up to in recent months?

2020 has truly been an “Annus Horribilis” for the travel industry. Since March, COVID-19 has brought a whole new set of rules for both business travel and meetings & events. As international travel has ground to a halt, our buyer members are modifying travel policies to match current conditions, while many supplier members struggle with loss of customers and profitability. The solid network and peer support, which our associations offer, is now needed more than ever.

Here’s a recap of things that we have been working on together to help you navigate the pandemic.

New Nordic website
Much of what we do is relevant across the region. Many of you are active across the region. We will shortly launch our new Nordic website, where you will be able to find activities and information covering all 4 Nordic countries. We will continuously add information to the site and hope it will be of use to our members.


Physical meetings may not have been possible this year, but in spite of that, we have continued to offer members educational content. Our series of Nordic webinars has been extremely appreciated and co-operation has enabled us to bring excellent international speakers onboard.

For the rest of the year, we have one more joint webinars scheduled:

Events for 2021

Plans for 2021 webinars are underway. Early on, we will be covering e.g. Brexit and new TMC pricing models. We also welcome members’ suggestions for topics: contact your local BTA GM to put your ideas forward!

23-24. March 2021 - Nordic Business Travel Summit 2021 
NBTS was our first event to take a hit when the virus started spreading. Instead of going virtual, a decision was made to postpone the event and it is our plan to offer you an updated, brilliant program in March 2021 in Stockholm.

Most of the registered attendees made the decision to keep their registration for 2021, and so did our valued sponsors. While it is our plan to run NBTS as a physical event, it will also be possible to join virtually. So, mark your calendars for 23 – 24 March and we’ll tell you more soon. 

Nordic Surveys

In 2020, we have run surveys on several topics. You have been asked about COVID-19 and its effect on travel, and travel manager salaries across the region. Results have been shared in our newsletters or on websites. We are currently re-running the COVID survey for buyers, so please make sure to reply. We want to know more about your thoughts for 2021. The results give valuable information also to our supplier members and we encourage all buyers to chip in and reply. By giving a bit of your time you will help us provide much-needed light to a very opaque situation.

In September, we asked all our members about membership value on a local, Nordic and global level. The results were very good: we got plenty of good feedback and many good suggestions for topics of future meetings. Thank you all, who took the time to respond!
