Dear <<First Name>>,

The traffic light may not be green, but it's all go nonetheless! The voices of thousands of tamariki rang out at nine regional Big Sing festivals last month, bringing an extraordinary range of musical styles to appreciative audiences around the motu. Our heartiest congratulations go to all the students, conductors, instrumentalists and support staff who contributed to their vibrant performances, and to our dedicated teams of regional volunteers who made these festivals possible.

On the topic of youth achievement, we reveal the placegetters in our two secondary school choral composition competitions, run in partnership with SOUNZ, Centre for New Zealand Music. For our 'older youth', we're excited to announce that registrations are now open for The Next Big Thing, a fantastic opportunity for 18-25 year olds to gather in Wellington to sing Fauré's exquisite Requiem. And singers of any age and from any region are invited to join Wellington's iconic "May" Workshop - time-shifted to October this year - to rehearse and perform another great work on the choral bucket list, Carmina Burana.

Also in this eBreve, we introduce one of our newest member choirs - The Music Association of Auckland, pass on news of a new funding hub, and share the first in a series of videos recorded at last year's Choral Connect.

And as we start to look beyond our borders again, we're excited to share the dates and location of the 2023 World Symposium on Choral Music. Türkiye is calling!

Congratulations, young composers!
We recently announced the winners of the NZCF-SOUNZ Choral Composition Competition and the SOUNZ-NZCF Te Reo Māori Composition Award. You'll find a list of all the talented young place-getters on our website.
Spotlight on new NZCF members
We're delighted to welcome the Music Association of Auckland (MAA) as NZCF members. This year, the organisation celebrates 20 years of supporting Chinese communities in Auckland through music. We asked Iris Cheng and Dr Marie Lin to tell us more...
Sign up for a weekend of singing
Wellington's much-loved, long-running May Workshop has moved to October this year. Online registrations are now open and you'll find all the details on our website. Don't miss this opportunity to sing Carl Orff's epic Carmina Burana under the direction of Brent Stewart.
Aged 18-25 and love singing?
We've just launched registrations for our new youth event scheduled for late November, at the start of the uni summer break. It's a chance to get together with old singing friends - and to make new ones - rehearsing and performing Fauré's Requiem in Wellington. Spread the word!
Catch up on Choral Connect '21
We're pleased to release the first in a series of videos featuring inspiring and thought-provoking presentations from last year's Choral Connect conference. This month we share Dr. Te Ahukaramū Charles Royal's presentation Pou-Rewa: Mātauranga Māori and Creativity.
