Assalamu Alaikum Dear Parents,
This week marks the 3rd week of school and the 1st week of our Unit of Inquiry. All week teachers have been using provocations to help students "Tune In" to the Unit of Inquiry. Children in all grades are generating questions based on the provocations. Today, students sorted through the questions to discover the Unit's Central Idea.
We also started our math instruction this week. This year, we scheduled math at the same time for all grades. This will allow us to extend those students who need to be challenged in Math while also meeting the needs of students who need extra support. Parents of students who have been assessed out of their current grade's standards will be contacted by the Homeroom teacher once all the assessments have been completed.
We are also excited to have received Title 1 services for a few of our students. These services will be provided in "Reading" to students who live in Howard County Title 1 school districts. Students have been identified based on the level of support needed in English Language Arts. Parents will be notified once the selection is finalized by Howard County's Title 1 office.
