FILM: A Nordic Sound Jazz Club at the Bijou Movie Night
Presents: Lady Sings the Blues
Thu, March 23, 2017, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Bijou Theatre
A Nordic Sound is a Big Band Jazz Orchestra including musicians frequently in Broadway orchestras. Directed by Jens Wendelboe, an internationally acclaimed composer, arranger and trombonist who has performed or collaborated with music icons such as Donna Summer, Blood Sweat and Tears, to jazz greats Phil Woods and Bill Watrous.

​Every other Monday and Thursday night at the Bijou Theatre, A Nordic Sound will be hosting a jazz event to benefit their non-profit association.

Proceeds from the Jazz events will go towards their Talent Inspiring Talent program. Talent Inspiring Talent is to encourage talented young musicians to reach for higher performance levels by providing them with opportunities to experience top musicianship.

Obsidian Colored Glasses
March 10th - March 30th

An introspective look through the creative lenses of artist of color and how they see themselves, culture, the world, life and art. In the age of black lives matter, political upheavals, resurging racism, bigotry, mass incarceration, mental health concerns and a multitude of other forces affecting our daily lives its important to check in. Check in on who we are , what we are doing, where we are and especially how do we feel through our interpretive views of the world.

Obsidian Colored Glasses seeks to provide just that view.
Obsidian Colored Glasses will feature a variety of regional artist spread throughout the African Diaspora showcasing various mediums of art such as sculpture, photography, film and paint.

Entry is free to the public, however a $5 suggested donations is always appreciated and help to keep these artist showing and events growing.

What could be better than one Little Red Riding Hood? Two Little Reds! It’s a case of mistaken identity in this brand new comedy of errors adaptation of the classic tale.  Come along as we travel through the woods to grandmother’s house where we discover fun, excitement and more than a few surprises along the way.
Our Children’s Theatre shows approximately run 75-80 minutes with a 10-minute intermission.

Spring Awakening

Hosted by B:Hive Bridgeport
WNPR's Where We Live is a call-in talk show about who we are in Connecticut and our place in the world. They explore topics from immigration and education to workplace and family issues, the latest scientific research and how worldwide events impact us locally. They highlight our diverse communities. They are radio with a sense of place.

Join us for a great evening of local music, food, drink and conversation while Where We Live broadcasts from B:Hive and discusses Bridgeport!

To the accompaniment of a top-class band and sensational dancers, the artists recreate the stars with astonishing authenticity. In this spectacular homage to music industry greats from the last 60 years, the world’s best celebrity impersonators succeed in dazzling audiences and creating the perfect illusion of being stars like Bette Midler, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Elvis and Tina Turner. Stars in Concert has been honored in Las Vegas for Best Producer 6 times in the past 20 years.

Members of the Easton Arts Council are back at the NEST, this time displaying a exhibit of stunning photography.
VISUAL ART:  Prints That Work: printmaking in the service of a bigger picture
On View February 23rd - March 25th
Housatonic Museum of Art

PRINTS THAT WORK: printmaking in the service of a bigger picture features the work of four artists offering unique perspectives on printmaking. Roxanne Faber-Savage, Kelsey Miller, John O’Donnell and Neil Daigle-Orians mine a range of subjects including wildlife trafficking and conservation, sexuality, religion, gender and the illusion of domestic bliss.

The exhibition, which will remain on view through March 25, is curated by Leslie Giuliani. The opening reception will take place on Thursday, February 23 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm; all are encouraged to attend.

A panel discussion featuring the artists will take place on Thursday, March 23 at 6 PM. The Housatonic Museum of Art is located at 900 Lafayette Blvd. in Bridgeport, CT.

Liz Squillace's Solo Exhibition at chaBridgeport, 305 Fairfield Ave., has gallery visiting hours of 1-4pm on Wednesday & 1-5pm on Thursday & Friday. These hours will run until March 31st.
