Optistring was an Ocean Exchange finalist in 2012 with their solution, Photovoltaic Inverters. These are a smart way of converting and feeding electricity from solar panels onto the power grid.

4th Generation Optistring Photovoltaic Inverter System.
Optistring's photovoltaic inverters can be used in home or commercial contexts, harvesting up to 25% more energy than traditional systems.

Since presenting at Ocean Exchange in 2012, Optistring has released the 4th generation of the system, which has been enhanced with electronics for junction box integration. Bypass diodes produce significant heat and are a common cause for photovoltaic module failures and even fires. With the new active bypass feature in the Optistring system losses are reduced from five watts of commonly used diodes, down to below 0.3 watts. This is further pushing the limits when it comes to efficiency.

The Optistring 4.6kW system successfully passed electromagnetic interference (EMC) pre-compliance measurements. Both immunity and radiated noise were measured at the Intertek laboratory in Stockholm. The system now passes both industrial and residential limits.

In addition to the technology updates, Anders Lindgren, CEO of Optistring, recently exhibited at Intersolar Europe. He reports that "we had a great time at Intersolar, we had our latest generation on display and were enjoying a lot of interest both from new and established contacts. Next stop will be Solar Power International (SPI) in Vegas, but without a booth so please reach out if you want to meet to setup a time."
