September is Recovery Month
Every September the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) sponsors National Recovery Month to recognize that individuals with a mental health or substance use disorder can live a healthy, rewarding life. This observance promotes the belief that behavioral health is essential to health, prevention works, treatment is effective, and people can and do recover from mental and/or substance use disorders.

JTNN and Northern Nevada HOPES Partner to Provide AmeriCorps Worker For Community

Join Together Northern Nevada is proud to announce a new partnership with Northern Nevada HOPES to provide a community health worker through the AmeriCorps service program beginning this month. The focus of this partnership is to improve our health and education environment, particularly to the medically underserved populations, and provide better access and knowledge of community resources.
We'd like to introduce you to our AmeriCorps representative, Nina Jolley, and have her share a little about herself:
I recently graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a Biology degree and a minor in Spanish. I am originally from Singapore but am fortunate enough to have also lived in England, Ohio, and New Hampshire before my family finally settled in Incline Village, Nevada. Thanks to my parents, I was bitten by the travel bug at a young age and recently studied abroad in Alicante, Spain for five months to immerse myself in the Spanish language and culture, totaling my country count to 30. With such an amazing end to my last semester, I knew I had to get a kick start on my journey to work in the healthcare field. My passion is to help others and I couldn’t pass up this AmeriCorps opportunity with Join Together Northern Nevada and Northern Nevada HOPES! With an ultimate career goal to become a Physician’s Assistant, I hope I can be half as amazing as all of the health care workers at the clinic.
