Winter 2015 Kent ISD MTSS Update
Kent ISD is committed to providing a continuum of supports for local districts as they implement an integrated academic and behavioral Multi-Tier System of Supports (MTSS) framework. Our team works to develop local leadership teams who facilitate and support quality systems reviews resulting in sustainable changes that increase achievement for ALL students.
MTSS Accomplishments
  • The Kent ISD MTSS team presented at the December board meeting on the positive impact MTSS is having across the county.
  • All Caledonia elementary schools completed School-Wide Reading Systems training.
    • "She (Sonia Lewis, trainer) gave us an amazing amount of specific information backed with facts and research.  It was impressive.  I have been teaching for the last 22 years and it was inspiring to be in her audience.  I wish my whole staff could have been there." Michelle Marceau, Kettle Lake Elementary, Caledonia Community Schools
  • TechKNOW included two MTSS presentations that were well-attended.
    • Making Learning Accessible: UDL + MTSS
    • Multi-Tier System of Supports (MTSS) at Kent ISD
  • School Leadership Teams from 11 buildings attended Winter Data Review. The teams acknowledged their gains and developed action plans for areas of improvement to keep their system of supports strong.  The teams celebrated the day’s hard work with a hot cocoa bar.
