"THANK YOU!" for a Great Indian Market 2022!

Wow! What a great week and weekend!  It was awesome to get to see so many friends over these past two weeks.  Thanks to everyone who was part of our show online and those who stopped in the gallery.  It was an exciting event with great work by some of today's leading Native artists.

As for Indian Market itself, congrats to Russell Sanchez for his first "Best of Show" win!  The polychrome winning jar he created was extraordinary.  Also, it was great to see pottery win on the 100th anniversary of the Indian Market.  As you may know, the first Indian Fair centered around Pueblo pottery, so it seemed fitting to see it take center place on the centenary.  The Saturday of Market was a rainy day, but Sunday was beautiful!  All the artists I spoke with did well during Market, which is essential to them for the year ahead.

Below are photos of some of the highlights of Gallup Ceremonials, our Gallery show, and Indian Market 2022!  I hope you enjoy it!

I want to thank everyone for their continued support for the gallery and the artist we represent.  It has made a significant difference to us through these uncertain times.  Additionally, it continues to express to us the importance of art in enhancing our daily lives.

Each day we will continue to add our New Additions to the website.  I hope you continue to enjoy it!

Gallup Ceremonials 2022

Congrats to Russell Sanchez, who won "Best of Pottery" at the 2022 Gallup Intertribal Ceremonials.  The jar was a classic piece with a bear lid and inset turquoise.  Other winners at Gallup Ceremonials were Tammy Garcia, Daniel Begay, Chase Earles, Chris Youngblood, Jennifer Tafoya, Robert Patricio, and Frederica Antonio.  It was an exciting way to start the summer shows and awards season!

Santa Fe Indian Market 2022
One week ago, we had our "Legacy" showing of new works by almost twenty of our gallery artists.  It was a phenomenal event with fantastic artwork and a great turnout of people to show their support of the gallery and the artists.  Thank you!

Russell Sanchez won "Best of Pottery" and "Best of Show" at Santa Fe Indian Market this year.  Above is the winning jar, a polychrome piece of his work with a bear lid and avanyu etched into the clay as the design. I've known Russell since the 1980s; this is his first "Best of Show" win. Russell has expressed that this experience has been humbling. Furthermore, it is remarkable and timely to see that he is now an integral part of the history of the Indian Market!

Congrats to Jared Tso (Dine) for receiving the "Tony Da" award for his sizeable corrugated jar.  This award for innovation in Native Art is a vital award reflecting creativity and innovation.  In addition, congratulations to award winners; Jason Garia, Nancy Youngblood, Chris Youngblood, Jody Naranjo, Ty Moquino, Jennifer Tafoya, Frederica Antonio, and Robert Patricio, along with other pottery category winners.  Additionally, Jeremey Frey won "Best of Baskets" for his large piece with "points" and braided black ash.
